Synopsis
Based on the short story Mimi e Istrioni by Pier Vittorio Tondelli, included in the collection Altri Libertini. Le Splash represent the state of mind of a decadent and rebellious queer generation.
The narrative focuses on the exploits, nocturnal mischief and adventures of a queer quartet that goes by the name of Le Splash , formed by three girls and a young transvestite that peruse the environments, cellars and venues of a misty 1980’s Reggio Emilia. Le Splash is an energetic and tight-knit bunch that has to constantly deal with an insidious enemy, the evil ones, represented by moralists, the hypocritical laws of common decency and a few rich and bored individuals. Le Splash fight and stand up to their adverse surroundings in the name of a “high” and incorruptible friendship – a friendship that is yet endangered by the tragic sense of life.

Le Splash sintetizza gli umori di una generazione queer ribelle e decadente. La narrazione si concentra sulle gesta, le scorribande e le avventure di un quartetto, Le Splash, costituito da tre ragazze e un giovane travestito che percorrono ambienti, cantine e locali di una nebbiosa Reggio Emilia dei primi anni ‘80. Le Splash sono un gruppo unito ed energico, che fronteggia costantemente un nemico subdolo, i maligni, rappresentati dai moralisti, il buon costume ipocrita e qualche individuo superficiale, ricco e annoiato. Le Splash fronteggiano tutto ciò che le circonda in nome di un sodalizio “alto” e incorruttibile ma che il tragico senso della vita rischia di incrinare.

The project Le Splash, intends to create a path towards the construction of an uncategorized platform that is based on an exchange of expertise and ideas.
Le Splash based on Mimi and Istrioni, an extract from P.V. Tondelli’s novel Other Libertines: artists, performers, intellectuals, are involved in the making by participating freely and offering their expertise to implement the various phases of the movie’s production. The project is therefore made by a group of anonymous people, and not by a single author. We chose The Splash to denominate the team and the project itself, the name of protagonists in Tondellis’ story. The Splash is an free sharing-educational process, a networking experience, a blog, a performative deviation.
Progetto Cross Mediale e Autoformazione
Le Splash sviluppa al suo interno una serie di eventi quali performance, incontri, laboratori, concerti e interventi radiofonici che articolano il progetto in una dimensione multidisciplinare.
Le Splash è stata l’occasione di sperimentare un nuovo modo di pensare il lavoro collettivo: artisti, performer, intellettuali, mettono a disposizione le proprie conoscenze specifiche e attraverso la libera partecipazione alle diverse fasi, sono coinvolti nel processo totale della messa in opera. Questa scelta è stata l’esito naturale scaturito in seguito alla lettura di Altri libertini, come riflesso dello spirito presente nella poetica tondelliana.
L’idea del lavoro collettivo e partecipato, in cui lo scambio e la professionalità sono a disposizione delle diverse aree di intervento muove nella direzione di un’auto-formazione e una didattica efficiente, gratuita e condivisa.
